Granny's Cough Remedy

As the season shifts, it seems like everyone is catching something. I remember this time of year as a kid my grandmother always had a stash of natural remedies to get us back on our feet. Whether it was a minor cold or the flu, Granny knew how to knock it out fast.

Today, I’m sharing her simple cold and cough remedy. You can grab every ingredient locally if you don’t already have them at home.


Ingredients:

  • 1 clove garlic, chopped

  • Elderberry

  • Honey


Instructions:

  1. Place garlic (and onion, if using) in a small saucepot.

  2. Cover with honey and bring to a gentle simmer.

  3. Once the garlic is cooked, let it cool.

  4. Take 1 teaspoon, 2–3 times a day.


Tip: Store in the fridge after each use. This little jar of goodness can be your go-to through the winter and spring months.
